La colza e il cucchiaino: 20

Data l'enorme quantità di brevetti in proposito, qui di seguito si riportano tre brevetti, uno per secolo (rispettivamente dal IXX, dal XX e dal XXI) di cucchiaini,.

Il brevetto più vecchio al quale si riesce a risalire è del 1861 sotto dominio di Manuel Carranza (Havana, Cuba).

CLAIM:
"(...) To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MANUEL CARRANZA, a citizen of Mexico, residing at Havana, Cuba, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Spoon,'of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, which represents a spoon decorated in accordance with my design.

(...) The bowl is represented as having artisti- 20 call y drawn thereon letters reading Recuerdo Habanaf but such decoration I do not claim as a portion of the design.

I claim a design for a spoon, substantially as here- 2 5 in shown and described."

Passando al secolo successivo, si inizia a notare qualcosa di più originale: sotto il nome di Jack Yolles in data 21 Novembre 1951 si nota il brevetto di un inconsueto cucchiaio dotato di piccoli denti, progettato apposta per essere inserito nella frutta e cavarne l'interno.

CLAIM:

"(...) What I claim is:

In a spoon, a bowl having a handle, a plurality of elongated tapered tines integral with the bowl and positioned at the front thereof and diametrically opposite to the handle, said tines being sharpened on both edges and joined at their bases by arcuate cutting edges for initially cutting into citrus type fruit for removal of its sections, and a plurality of closely aligned cutting teeth in the form of saw teeth arranged integral with and along each lateral edge of the bowl, whereby reciprocating motion of the handle causes the teeth to fully separate fruit sections initially cut by the cutting edges of the tines."

Il brevetto ai giorni nostri si usa anche per appropriarsi di una determinata decorazione o fantasia, più o meno semplice come quella sul cucchiaio di plastica di Tat Po Ng (?) del 2014.
